Cantina Josto Puddu

[continua] We could say that if wines of Sardinia remind the spirit of Sardinians for the versatility of their characteristics, yet they show a more faithful attachment to their native land, coming to maturity and reaching perfection without artful adulteration. Respecting these traditions the Cantina Josto Puddu situated in San Vero Milis, ten kilometers north of Oristano, devotes itself to the production of this ancient and excellent wine, since 1962; the activity began by purchasing small lots of Vernaccia grapes from local vine-growers, that were pressed and vinificated following the traditions of the Oristano district. The product obtained was then transferred into small oak or chestnut casks for the period of ageing required. Meeting with success, the small cellar was transferred to the actual location and enlarged. Owing to the diversifying of the demand the Cantina Josto Puddu has introduced, besides the Vernaccia, which adorns itself with the D.O.C. “Vernaccia di Oristano” since 1971, other wines such as red white, rosé and sparkling wines in order to satisfy a wider range of consumers. In confirmation of the precious work of the Cantina Josto Puddu a series of acknowledgments obtained in various competitions, fairs and exhibitions, mentioning among these: Diploma and gold medal for the best wine “Vernaccia di Oristano D.O.C. 1968” - Verona VINITALY 1978; Diploma and gold medal for the “Vernaccia di Oristano D.O.C. 1978” - Asti DOUJA D’OR 1983; Oscar Sardegna Vini for the “Vernaccia di Oristano D.O.C. 1977” - Cagliari 1995; Great medal “‘Canqrande” Verona VINITALY 1999 for the important contribution brought to the italian oenology and viculture.
